Update Sellers To Be Concerned About

As much information as there is available on the internet for the novice as well as the seasoned collector, we still constantly see people bidding on items that are cleverly marketed by sellers that appear to be something they are not. A clear example of this, are these next two items.

1933 Babe Ruth Goudey Gum Co. #149 Item#: 8758331903

Here the seller gives you a long story on the history of Babe Ruth, then cleverly words their disclaimer to draw attention away from the fact that they are selling a “Renata Glasso” reprint of a very high dollar card. Their disclaimer reads “ As always, all items sold "as discovered". This is a gently used item and appears to be in fine condition”.

Here is the first picture provided by the seller which clearly shows the reprint stamp.

The seller never claims the card to be an original but they also don’t tell you it is a reprint.

In this next example the seller clearly states in the item description that this is a “Topps Baseball Archives” card but there are still bidders on a card that can be readily purchased for between $5.00-$15.00. Now of course they don't tell you it was produced in 1991, but they have told you enough to at least do a search for a similar item.

1953 Topps Mickey Mantle item# 8756562730

We can't stress enough, know what you are looking at, do your homework before you bid. It is as easy as looking at other examples of the same card, or asking the seller a question.

This week our sellers to be concerned about include:
UPDATE Card Removed /Seller NARUed
Seller: twinstandj Is selling a Michael Jordan rookie that was removed last week because it was pointed out to eBay Trust and Safety that they had purchased an 86 reprint earlier in the year from seller newused2005 in a private auction. Of course there is the usual disclaimer " I am not a professional grader and the card is not graded, therefore I am selling this card as a reprint. Sorry, no returns accepted due to buyers switching cards upon the return."
1986 Fleer Michael Jordan item# 8758150051

Seller: donchaz2u Lowers the reserve on a 53 Topps Mantle and has this disclaimer in his item description" This card is ungraded and sold as is."
1953 Topps Mickey Mantle item# 8757336304

Cards Removed

Seller: justizzle3 Sells other graded vintage cards, so knows the value of having items this rare authenticated. Yet brings to the table some very high dollar vintage cards.
1909 T206 TY Cobb item# 8757020029
1934 Goudey Lou Gehrig item# 8757021768
1939 Joe DiMaggio Playball item# 8757015226
1887 N28 Allen & Ginter John Montgomery Ward item# 8757013860

UPDATE Cards Removed

For the above post we have just found that seller justizzle3 is also selling
1909 Graded Authentic Ray Demmitt T206 item# 8757005178
1895 Mayo's Cut Plug Arlie Latham N300 SCG 50 item#8756111615

The only problem with these 2 items is that it seems they have stolen the scans from Marty's graded psa So unless izzle is Marty, well you know what I mean.

This story gets better, it seems item#8755841176 a set of 413 T206's is also a stolen scan from the T206 museum. Here is the current thread form the Vintage Baseball Card forum posted by the director of the museum. T206 Thread

That's it for now we will update as we find items so check back. Till then please remember our motto !
